The past couple of decades have seen a lot of prominences given to being earth friendly and sustainable. Businesses, people, and everyone in general has been comparatively more aware of the fact that we all must act and work in a way that does not harm the planet and sustainability is a term that is used far more commonly even in the world of luxury.
As the saying goes, Ethics + Aesthetics= Sustainable Luxury.
On the first thought, luxury and sustainable are two very different words.
They can almost be termed as oxymoron. The word luxury often comes with an undertone of excess and waste and is often associated with words like ‘extravagance’, ‘couture’, and the ‘high life’. While we think of sustainability, we think of words like ‘economy’, ‘environment’, ‘long term’, or even ‘climate change‘. Then how is it that two such different words come together?
But between all the pomp and grandeur of luxury, luxury shares certain qualities like long-term, creative and extraordinary designs with sustainability. When you’re buying a $2,500 worth Gucci bag you will look for qualities like elegance, uniqueness and long term! Similarly, sustainability is related to use of exceptional materials, classic designs and quality but with a focus on the long term and the use of fewer and better.
Sustainability — is about the continuance of abundant and healthy life for humans, animals, plants, and the earth’s systems now, and into the future.
It’s finally time to update your wardrobe, to save the earth and some money. But, with unending buzzwords to understand and issues around greenwashing, it can be challenging to know exactly where to look for truly eco-friendly and ethically made luxury clothing. With that said, there is INDE MUSE out there that is producing high-quality, eco-friendly and durable products – and which don't sacrifice on style – so that you can enjoy shopping with a clear conscience.
For INDE MUSE, the belief in slow fashion and luxury is built into their brand DNA. The brand name, INDE MUSE, is inspired by the words “independent” and “muse” representing a strong woman who is her own biggest fan and strives to become a better person every day.
As part of its mission to make luxury a sustainable and timeless style through slow fashion, the brand’s entire process from development and design to production and packaging is carried out ethically, and consciously. The fabrics used are organic cotton, eco rayon, and viscose satin spandex which use fewer chemicals, less water and have lower greenhouse gas emissions. The eco rayon is Livaeco certified and the organic cotton is Control Union certified. Does not end here! To ensure minimal waste, they produce limited quantities of their designs and are further exploring methods to continue to do this in even better ways.
With the launch of their new F/W 22 collection named Muse Mode On, I was so very glad to see lots of rich colors and luxurious fabrics. The collection features timeless looks for every kind of occasion, transitioning from day to night while ensuring comfort. The color palette highlights the evergreen black color, dark pink to add a pop of color, and an elegant zebra print with orange accents to bring something different yet chic to the table.

It’s not rocket science. Changing up your lifestyle and embracing sustainable living can be reduced to a few simple quips. If you can wear it, wear it. If you can’t wear it, donate it. You can’t donate it or wear it? Then you’ll upcycle it, reuse it, or recycle it. As long as you can avoid sending it to the landfill, you’ve done your part in keeping the planet safe and fashion sustainable.
Because in the end sustainability is not about doing less harm rather it’s about doing more good!
What do you think – ready to start building your ethical closet?

ReplyDeleteThose dresses are gorgeous! If I ever left my house, haha, they would really come in handy! I have to say, some of my most worn items this year are things I got off Poshmark. I really need to explore secondhand options more before I just buy new things. I used to love thrifting, pre-pandemic!
